RESOURCES

1. New Curriculum Frameworks Implementation Resources.

The MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has assembled some useful resources for educators implementing the new MA Curriculum Frameworks, along with detailed PowerPoint presentations describing them. Rather than take up your time walking through these resources in a public meeting, we are including links to the key resources here. We encourage you to share these with your curriculum-focused staff and then come to one of the Frameworks Forums (below) to discuss implementation strategies and needs with peers in the Valley.

2. Frameworks Forums

We are scheduling three roughly identical Frameworks Forums during the month of April, one each in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties. Each session will consist of approximately 30-60 educators and include the following: (1) Discussion of the new Curriculum Frameworks resources with a panel of local practitioners, including district leaders, curriculum leaders, and school leaders. What questions do you have? What seems useful? What is unclear or missing from these resources? (2) Role-alike discussion of implementation approaches. District leaders, curriculum leaders, principals, and others will join in facilitated small-group discussions with peers in similar positions. What have you done to date? Where are you stuck? What support does your district or organization need?

Dates and locations of the Forums are below. Participants are encouraged to bring a team; for those from school districts this might include a superintendent or assistant superintendent, a curriculum leader, a principal, an instructional coach or department head, etc. If you or your team are unable to attend the Forum in your county, you are welcome to attend one of the other sessions.
